Maxxis at Ard Rock 2019
We’re super excited to have Maxxis as an Ard Rock partner and thought we’d tell you about some of the cool stuff you can see from them at this year’s event. Not least their sponsorship of stage three – one of the rockiest on the entire event. Which is saying something, and all the proof you need they have faith in their product. Once you pass those Maxxis flags best be holding on tight because you’re in for a wild ride…
You’ll be in safe hands if you’re running Maxxis rubber on your bike though, especially if you take the opportunity to be the first on the block with the brand’s latest Assegai tyre. Ard Rock will be the first place in the country you’ll be able to buy what will in all likelihood be this season’s must-have, the Assegai wrapping up the best of the existing Maxxis range into one monster, do-it-all tyre.
Designed with input from none other than Greg Minnaar, the Assegai combines a bit of the Shorty’s wet-weather grip with classic High Roller speed and a Minion’s proven toughness. Maxxis will have the new tyre in tubeless ready 27.5×2.5 and 29×2.5 options with beefed up EXO sidewalls for maximum protection from sidewall cuts and abrasion damage. Sounds like just the tyre for Ard Rock and we expect to see plenty of freshly fitted Assegais out there, a free T-shirt with every tyre purchased yet another reason to check out the stand!
Maxxis also supports the ever-popular pump-track challenge, held in the main event village and open to all-comers. If you think you’re Ard enough qualifiers take place 1pm-2pm and 5pm-6pm on Friday and Saturday, the finals at 7:45pm on Saturday as a warm-up to headliners Pearl Jam UK taking to the stage. Suffice to say, the atmosphere will be buzzing and whether you’re riding or just cheering from the sides you won’t want to miss the action. Especially as Jono Jones defends a two-year winning streak and aims for three in a row. Can anyone catch him? Make sure you’re there to find out!
